The Governor of Macao informed me verbally,

on the occasion of a recent visit which I paid him, that he had been unable to make any arrangement for the supply of Indian opium to the Macao Government Monopoly, but that he had made satisfactory arrangements for obtaining supplies of Persian opiun.
